County Men of Note Perform at Elkton Baptist Church
On Thursday night, May 18, 2023, 80 people packed Elkton Baptist Church to enjoy the music and inspiration of the County Men of Note. The program began with Director Roger Mills welcoming the audience and introducing the group. He explained that every practice and performance began with a prayer, and the group then sang, I Love You Lord. Elkton Baptist Church Pastor, Paul Cofer, welcomed everyone to the church and read scripture from Psalm 100, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” The County Men of Note then led the singing of The Star Spangled Banner. The prayer and The Star Spangled Banner set the stage for the remainder of the concert consisting of Christian and Patriotic Songs with inspirational testimonies, praises and some popular songs from the 1950’s and 1960’s interspersed. A love offering was received and will be used by the church to support a local charitable organization. The program ended with a beautiful rendition of I Sing a Song for America and the reciting of The Pledge of Allegiance. A fellowship reception followed the performance.
County Men of Note members included: First tenors – Mike Alexander, Dan Blankenship and Miles Clark; Second tenors – Bill Hargiss, Ken Morse, and Sid Lind; Basses – Jack Bay, Steve Mawhiney, Richard Webb, Elden Woodyard, Rick Lasley; and Baritones – Larry Gould, Walt Patterson and Jerry Blackwell. Carolyn Gordanier beautifully substituted as the accompanist in the absence of Carla Moore, and Trudy Webb served as Carolyn’s assistant. Gwen Lind was the flutist for the song, I Believe.
Elkton Baptist Church extends a huge “Thank You” to the County Men of Note for sharing their time and talent in not only entertaining but also inspiring the audience as they glorified the Lord.
